Journal Grading for Journal #2

Click on the "Journal Table of Contents" tab 
at the top of the page to check your journal.

Make sure you can answer YES to every question below if you want to earn the most points possible (100) on your journal.












Journal Grading Checklist:

• Is your table of contents neat and absolutely complete?
  
• Is every single JE 100% complete?
  
• Is every flippy securely glued in?
  
• Have all edits and corrections been done in a bright color (not blue/black ink or regular pencil)?
  
• Are all JE's numbered correctly (21L/21R, etc.)
  
• Are all JE's without flippies titled?
  
• Is my journal organized according to the table of contents?
  
• Is my journal work legible?
  
• Do I feel Pride of Ownership for my journal? In other words, am I proud to have my name on it because it shows my best efforts?
  

FD Scary Story

FD of Scary Stories are due tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 31).

Here's your FD checklist:

• Have I proofread my story well?
• Is it free from spelling errors and punctuation errors?
• Have I corrected all sentence fragments and run-ons?
• Have I paragraphed correctly?
• Have I indented every time a new character speaks?
• Have I given it an original title (not "Scary Story")?
• If I typed, did I double space?
• Did I use size 10-12 font (no larger, no smaller)?

Scary Story!

1. In JE #19/Left and Right, write your RD of your Scary Story.

2. Please include the following words in your story, and highlight or underline them as you use them:

• Lambycat
• gossamer (shimmery and delicate, like a spider web)
• arachnid
• misty
• darkness
• candy (or clown)
• vampire
• wraith (synonym for ghost)
• blood 
• monster

3. Please avoid having guns or other weapons in your story.

4. Your story should be at least 250 words long (or more!).

5. Your story can just be plain old Halloween scary, or you can make it more like a Twilight Zone episode and include some elements of science-fiction. 

6. If you choose to write more along the lines of the Twilight Zone, here are some typical TZ situations:

• Humans’ and Aliens’ reactions to each other
• The Afterlife/Zombies, etc.
• Dreams/Nightmares
• Humans trying to live on other planets
• Inanimate objects coming to life
• Parallel dimensions
• Twins
• Psychic or telekinetic abilities
• Robots
• Technology's effects on humans
• Time travel
